Visiting the Maine Coast for Memorial Day?

    Wednesday, May 8th, 2013

The long weekend for Memorial Day signals the official start of summer, and that means the official start of Tourist Season in Maine.  If you’re planning a Memorial Day trip to Maine for the three day weekend, we have some recommendations for you and your family.

    • Watch a local parade and Memorial Day ceremony

Maine’s communities celebrate Memorial Day with parades through towns and ceremonies in honor of their veterans and fallen soldiers.  The local parade in Camden goes right by our Jaret and Cohn office!  If you’re visiting for the weekend, join the community in their local traditions!

    • Picnic on the beach

If the weather’s nice, take a trip to one of the local beaches for a picnic.  Birch Point State Park in Owls Head, Maine and Laite Beach in Camden, Maine are great locations to enjoy a nice day at the beginning of summer!

    • Hike up Mount Battie

Take a leisurely hike, walk, or drive up Mount Battie! Spectacular views of Camden Harbor are a must-see while you’re visiting the area.  Edna St. Vincent Millay also wrote her famous poem, “Renascence,” about this view.

    • Trade in hot dogs for lobster

You’re in Maine… Why not celebrate Memorial Day with lobsters from a local fisherman instead of hot dogs and hamburgers?  Lobsters, corn on the cob, and dinner rolls make for a much better dinner anyway!

From all of us here at Jaret and Cohn Real Estate, we hope you enjoy your trip to Maine this month!  For more information about our company, check out our website and listings at http://www.jaretcohn.com/.

A REALTOR with Jaret & Cohn Real Estate since 1994, Ellsworth has been involved with serving multiple mid-coast communities and organizations since his arrival to Camden in 1988.

In presenting Ellsworth with the award, Nancy Hughes, President of the Council, enumerated on Ellsworth’s strong work ethic, ability to be involved with multiple projects, and enduring community engagement. Agent Profile: Sandy Ellsworth

    Sunday, December 18th, 2011

Sandy has lived in Camden for almost two decades, and giving back to the community is a driving force in his life. He’s served on the boards of the Knox County Salvation Army, the Midcoast Children’s Services, and the Rockland Rotary. He’s on the town of Camden’s budget and conservation committees, and he was the first president of the St. George River Realtors Council. Additionally he is on the marketing committee for the Pen Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce.
And all the while golfing as often as possible. “Getting to be a scratch golfer is my goal,” he says. Somehow Sandy fits all this around a full-time real estate practice. “People don’t just buy a house or a business, they buy a community. I know my way around, and I can help them understand what’s here.” He is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable broker who’s won company sales awards and earned countless referrals. “Trustworthy is the word one client used to describe me,” he says. “I’m proud of that.” He’s focused and effective, but he can also be extremely funny.

    Organic Lawns and Yards

    Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Assocation (MOFGA) inserted this book suggestion into their newletter this week:

Introduction To Organic Lawns And Yards. New organic lawn care booklet for the homeowner. Just in time for the fall planting season, NOFA OLC (the Northeast Organic Farming Association’s Organic Land Care program) has published a science-based introduction to organic lawns and yards booklet for homeowners. This is a beautiful, informative guide with gorgeous photographs. Focuses on water and energy conservation, soil fertility, natural pest and invasive species control. This is a great resource and gift idea for the person you’ve been hoping would consider a low-impact approach to yardscaping.
Available from our online Country Store for only $5.
Perhaps this is a good read in light of Camden and other areas adopting pesticide free policies.
